E-size is a statistic calculated on contigs and scaffolds and is designed to answer the question: if you choose a location (a base) in the reference genome at random, what is the expected size of the contig or scaffold containing that location? E-size is computed as: ∑G=(LC)2/G,where LC is the length of contig C, and G is the genome length estimated by the sum of all contig lengths.
